Outline Itinerary
1Day 1
Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival at the Kathmandu Airport, you will be received by us and transferred to your hotel. You can meet with trekking staff later in the day or the next day for a briefing on the upcoming trek.
2Day 2
Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing & Trek Preparation
After breakfast you'll head out on a city tour of Kathmandu to see the main attractions of the valley. Visit the Boudahnath stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Swoyambhunath stupa (the Monkey Temple), and Kathmandu's Durbar Square. After finishing the city tour, you'll meet with staff again to check your clothing and equipment for the trek. Overnight in Kathmandu.
3Day 3
Drive to Syabrubesi (1460m,9 hours)
Your guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to the bus station where your journey north from Kathmandu begins. You'll travel on the Pasang Lamu highway, which is well paved until Trisuli Bazaar, and then is unpaved to Sybrubesi. Enjoy the scenery along the way, admiring the valleys, farming terraces, villages, and snow-capped peaks. Enjoy an evening stroll and spend the night in Syabrubesi.
4Day 4
Trek to Gatlang (6 hours, 2,238m)
After a hot breakfast at the lodge, you'll make a 1.5-hour ascent, walking to a viewpoint where you'll have fantastic views of Ganesh Himal, the Gosaikunda range, and the Goljung valley. The trail then leads you downhill to the Goljung valley where you'll stop for lunch. It's another 3-hour walk to reach the beautiful Tamang village. Overnight at the lodge.
5Day 5
Trek to Tatopani (5/6 hours, 2380m)
You'll have the longest walk of the trip on Day 5, walking for around 7 hours. The walk begins with a descent to Thangbuchet by the Bhotekoshi River. After lunch the trail ascends to the hanging bridge. After crossing the bridge, the ascent continues until you reach Tatopani, which literally means hot water. Bathe in the natural hot spring. Overnight at the lodge.
6Day 6
Trek to Thuman (6 hours, 2238m)
After breakfast your day starts with an ascent to Nagthali Danda, at 3,300 meters. The high, open grassland offers amazing views of the snow-covered Himalayas. After a rest stop, you'll continue your walk to Brimdang, and stop there for lunch.
After lunch, trek up to Nagthali Danda, and enjoy the views from the top along with tea prepared by the caretaker of the gompa. After this break, you'll walk down to Thuman, a Tibetan-influenced Tamang village. Overnight at the lodge.
7Day 7
Trek to Briddim (5/6 hours, 2239m)
Begin the day with an easy walk, and after a bit you'll descend to Timure on the old trade route to Tibet. Stop here for lunch. After lunch you'll continues on to Briddim, another Tibetan-influenced Tamang village. Enjoy a home stay in Briddim. Each host family provides a clean bed, toilet, and meals in a family dining room. You'll enjoy the evening with the host family, eating traditional foods, and watching the locals gather in the evening in their traditional costumes, performing cultural songs and dances.
8Day 8
Trek to Syabrubesi (5 hours, 1460m)
After breakfast you'll trek downhill to Syabrubesi ,which is just a 3-hour walk from Briddim. After lunch you'll have rest of the day free. Dinner and overnight in Syabrubesi.
9Day 9
Drive to Kathmandu (9 hours)
Early in the morning you'll board the bus for the ride back to Kathmandu. You'll be transferred to your hotel and have the remainder of the day to relax or see more of the city. Farewell dinner in the evening and overnight in Kathmandu.
10Day 10
Kathmandu Airport
Final transfer to Kathmandu airport, unless you decide to extend your holiday to get your flight back to home.
