Outline Itinerary
1Day 1
Arrival at TIA airport, pick up and transfer to hotel.
2Day 2
Sightseeing at Kathmandu Durbar square and Living Goddess Kumari's Temple. Pashupatinath Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath, Patan Durbar Square and overnight at hotel.
3Day 3
Fly to Shiddarthnagar (Bhairawa airport), Hotel Transfer, Drive to Lumbini, hotel transfer and sightseeing after lunch.
4Day 4
Full day guided sightseeing at Buddha’s birth place area and overnight at hotel.
5Day 5
Drive to Pokhara, transfer to hotel, leisure walk along Fewa Lake side down town market.
6Day 6
Sightseeing in Pokhara visit the "World Peace Stupa" and boating-Fewa Lake.
7Day 7
Sunrise and Mountain view from Sarangkot hill. Visit typical local culture in Hemja village and visit Tibetan Refugee Camp to see Buddhist culture and Tibetan handicrafts.
8Day 8
Morning drive /fly to Kathmandu, hotel transfer; evening farewell dinner.
9Day 9
Airport transfer for next destination or join in another program.
Description
Lumbini is one of four Buddhist pilgrimage sites based on major events in the life of Gautama Buddha. Interestingly, all of the events occurred under trees.
Lumbini, the small town situated in southern plain in Nepal is the birth of place of Lord Buddha and Kingdom of historic Shakya kingdom and has been declared as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The old monuments in ruin state can be seen in and around the Lumbini area. With many followers of Buddhism around the globe he left at the age of 84. Many stupas were built by his devotees from across the world. Japan, China, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Nations and other countries are involved. Lumbini is considered as a holy ground for Buddhists all over the world. Many old monasteries and garden in Shakya era are restored in Lumbini. A large bolder pillar erected by the Indian brave emperor Ashoka in 250BC bears an inscription about the birth of the Buddha. The famous Maya Devi Mandir is in heart of Lumbini this is the place where lord Buddha was born.
Access: Siddhartha Highway and east west highway connects Lumbini by road to Pokhara, Tansen and Kathmandu. Regular Flights from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa which is a 15 – 20 minute drive to Lumbini from Bhairahawa airport
